Dear Friends,
On the first “Good Friday,” Jesus’ followers witnessed him being taken before Pontius Pilate then to Golgotha where he and two others would be crucified. They would have never described it as “good.” They didn’t believe that anything good could have come from that day even though Jesus had told them that on the third day he would rise from the grave in the Resurrection. They believed in Jesus but they didn’t believe him. They, like us today, got caught up in the appearance of death even though he had taught them otherwise. We know now, that he was setting the stage for all who had eyes to see.…to witness the One Reality of Life!
In his words in A Course in Miracles, he speaks to the “Message of the Crucifixion” in Chapter 6 of the Text:
“The crucifixion cannot be shared because it is the symbol of projection, but the resurrection is the symbol of sharing because the reawakening of every Son of God is necessary to enable the Sonship to know its wholeness. Only this is knowledge.
“The message of the crucifixion is perfectly clear:
“Teach only love, for that is what you are.”
Every year, at Eastertime, I read these words and ponder them. I ask for Help in understanding them and then, living them. The awareness I have is that “all” we are, is love. That love is the Substance of our Creator and It is the Substance of all that God has created. It is the Divine Substance that allows us to reveal Heaven on Earth. As we look past all appearances to the contrary, we behold the Christ in ourselves and the Christ in each other. In doing this, we demonstrate our belief in him and embrace the Truth he came to teach.
On this Good Friday, Mary and I hold you in this love,
Rev. Steve
