Dear Spiritual Family,
In this message to you, I (Rev. Steve) am guided to share how I see Jesus the Christ. As you know, he is central to the teachings of Unity. Central, but not exclusive, as we have great reverence for all the forms in which the Christ presents Itself to us over the eons.
Our deepest understanding of Jesus has come to us through A Course in Miracles. In the Manual for Teachers, we read, “The name of Jesus is the name of one who was a man but saw the face of Christ in all his brothers and remembered God. So he became identified with “Christ,” a man no longer, but at one with God. The man was an illusion, for he seemed to be a separate being, walking by himself within a body that appeared to hold his self from Self, as all illusions do. Yet who can save unless he sees illusions and identifies them as what they are?”
Contrary to most orthodox teachings about Jesus, he does not set himself apart from us but instead represents one who leads the way to God, thus the fitting term, “Our Wayshower.” Charles and Myrtle Fillmore saw Jesus in this way as they taught others, and thus sought to live their lives in this understanding.
Quoting again, “Is he the Christ? O yes, along with you. His little life on earth was not enough to teach the mighty lesson that he learned for all of you. He will remain with you to lead you from the hell you made to God.
“Is he God’s only Helper? No, indeed. For Christ takes many forms with different names until their oneness can be recognized. But Jesus is for you the bearer of Christ’s single message of the Love of God. You need no other.”
This is the Voice I heard unmistakably – clearly, almost forty years ago, “It’s time to study A Course in Miracles.” As I heeded that message and began, in earnest, to study this great wisdom, Jesus’ Love healed me and blessed me. I literally felt his presence as I taught and counseled in my early days of ministry. Over the years we have, as a couple, felt his walking with us, not as a fond idea but as reality. Often, when we pray for you and others, we picture him there with you with all his compassion and love, his healing touch and we know in our hearts, that all is truly well.
Thank you for giving us this opportunity to share our understanding of the one who has touched our lives so deeply and whose love we feel so strongly. Indeed, Jesus walks with all of us and talks to all of us as he is forever committed to showing us the way to God. For us, his love and guidance is needed now more than ever.
In Christ Love,
Rev. Steve and Mary
