Dear Spiritual Family,

As this is being written, Mary and I are reflecting on our recent Jennings Family Reunion. It is an annual event we host in our home for Mary’s siblings and their spouses.

With guests on all floors, steps are involved – up and down of course, and with the mean age close to eighty, you might imagine those steps are taken more gingerly each year. The award-winning actress, Bette Davis, said it best I think, “Getting old is not for sissies!”

We are blessed in our understanding of New Thought that these bodies “age” but we, as spiritual beings, do not. Our challenge is in remembering this truth, especially when things go awry with these “spacesuits” we wear. On the other hand, with more years in these incarnations, we are also blessed with increasing wisdom and the perspective that is typically gained as the years roll by.

Much of that wisdom presented itself over this five-day “retreat” as laughter and light-heartedness. We had more than one good belly laugh at ourselves as we navigated stairs and getting in and out of cars and especially as we played charades or the corn-hole toss.

There were serious moments of course; health concerns that present themselves as our loved ones advance in years. And there our faith, though sometimes expressed in varying ways, reminded us that beyond all appearances, all is truly well. That faith when exercised sustains us all, does it not?

We hope, as always, that this week’s missive finds you well and happy. Most of all, that you feel our love and deep appreciation for you, the wisdom that you bring to this world, and our collective knowing that we are, have always been, and will always be, immortal Beings, the Beloved of our Creator and safe at home within His Heart.

Happy Spring Holy Child of God,

Rev. Steve and Mary
