Dear Spiritual Family,
It has been our intention from the beginning of our ministry – together, for almost 40 years – to be relevant to where folks are and to offer enduring Spiritual Principles that help us live more joyfully, abundantly, and peacefully in our lives. Over these decades of ministry, we have been called to do our best to minister to all of those we have been privileged to serve.
As this Sunday is the one that follows our Elections and precedes Veteran’s Day, we want to speak to these events in the Light of Principle and most importantly in the Light of Love.
To some around our Nation, love may be the farthest thing from their minds. There is upset, disappointment, grief and anger. To others, a sense of lightness, perhaps happiness or relief.
As I, Rev. Steve, meditated over this message and as Mary and I discussed it and prayed over it, we were guided to an old hymn – one we find in Unity’s Wings of Song book: In Christ There Is No East or West:
In Christ there is no East or West, In Him no South or North; but one great fellowship of love, through-out the whole wide earth.
There could be a tendency in these ensuing days to draw a circle that includes some and excludes others. “Birds of a feather…” as the saying goes. So much that we hold in our beliefs, wants us to only gather with those who see things the way we do, who believe, essentially as we believe. But we are not birds, are we? We are, each, Christ-ed Beings, endowed by our Creator with the consummate ability to Love beyond our merely human commonalities, our personalities, or our littleness.
There is another song in this work – Love Is the Only Power.
Love is the only power, Love is the only way. Love, Love, our Love; how our circle grows. (You may remember, singing: “Love, Love, God’s Love, how our circle grows.)
Either way, Love’s healing, harmonizing power is available to each of us. Perhaps we’re feeling the need to be filled with that Love. If so, feel yourself open to that filling. Perhaps, we feel full of this Love. If so send it out and trust the Holy Spirit to deposit It right where another is open to receive it.
Veteran’s Day is November 11, 2024 – Please join us in honoring our Veterans and First-Responders.
I entered service in the US Navy 56 years ago on Nov. 18, 1968. Four years later, I completed my tour. In this video message, I share a bit of my journey and some of the love and challenges that I experienced in those settings.
We have had many endearing moments over these decades as we have encountered and loved these amazing men and women who have defended our freedoms.
Happy Veterans Day and happy days of loving everywhere your heart directs precious friends.
Please feel our love for each of you,
Rev. Steve and Mary
