Dear Spiritual Family,

The message this week is entitled “Between a Rock and a Heart Place.” In this video, we’re encouraged to let go of the “rock” in all its forms and choose instead abundance, joy, healing, and love.

Henry David Thoreau wrote, “Go boldly in the direction of your dreams and live the life you have imagined.” We’re quite sure that none of us consciously “dream” of living lives that are fraught with worry and scarcity, anger and upset, misery and loss. Quite the opposite is true when we are in our “right mind.” We envision lives that are wonderful, abundant, whole, and loving. We dream of lives that contribute to the well-being of those around us and the world in general.

To the degree that we feel off track or not fully “on track,” we are reminded that we are always at choice to imagine a life that reflects God’s will for us – all the good that we can think of and more. And to allow more of this good, we must let go of the “rock.” The rock is where our ego loves to hang out.

Dr. David Hawkins elucidates this point in writing, “By commitment to inner honesty, it will become apparent that the underpinning of the ego’s responses is the pleasure that is derived from them. There is an inner satisfaction that is the payoff of self-pity, anger, rage, hate, pride, fear, and so on….to undo the ego, one must be willing to abandon this payoff game, with its grandstanding of emotions and repetitive rehashing of data and stories to justify its position.”

As we let go of the proverbial rock and the hardness it reflects, we are free to let go into our hearts where love and Truth abide. We don’t have to be “stuck” between the rock and our heart space. It’s a simple, though not always easy choice to make, but the “payoff” of living in love is worth all the vigilance that is needed to “be there!”

We love you,

Going Deeper

If you would like to take this message deeper, here are two questions you can work with. Use these in your own self-reflection or in discussion with others.

  1. Dr. Hawkins in his enlightened work, encourages the letting go or giving up of positionalities. What positionalities do you feel are keeping you stuck to the rock?
  2. Imagine what your life would feel like if you released just one positionality that comes to mind. Are you willing to share that?

Suggested exercise or to be incorporated into a meditation: A brief visualization of you standing in the midst of the circle (where the woman was addressed by Jesus.) And where he looks deeply into your eyes, past all your mistakes and you feel nothing but his unconditional love.

We would love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
