Dear Spiritual Family,
Happy Mother’s Day! Unity’s Daily Word offers, “Today I offer a blessing of gratitude for the loving, nurturing spirit of mothers. I bless my mother and those who have shared a mother’s love by supporting me throughout my life…I envision all the mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers throughout the world surrounded by love and light.” Let’s take a moment here to deeply feel these words, letting them rest richly in our hearts.
The title of today’s message comes from a sweet but simple round, Heart of the Mother, written by Michael Stillwater. The lyrics are: I am one with the heart of the Mother. I am one with the heart of Love, I am one with the heart of the Father. I am one with God. Ave Maria, Kyrie Eleison is the soprano part.
We were introduced to this beautiful piece by our friend, Greg Tamblyn when he would bring his music to the churches we have served in. I, Rev. Steve, offer the opening piece of it in today’s video message. I encourage you to find Greg online and hear the full piece.
I believe that to fully appreciate Mother’s Day and the nurturing energy of mothers and other mother figures, we must do so through the heart. There we may feel more easily, “The Motherhood of God – The Motherhood of Love.”
When we clothe our consciousness in this Love, we access the authentic power from which we are fashioned. It is this unleashing of this love that reveals the true Self and gives us the motivation to look upon our Sisters and Brothers with the eyes of Christ.
Another dear friend, Nana Harrison, recently sent us a link to the inspiring recording, If I Could Give You Anything by Kirtana. You can access that piece here:
Whatever you find in music or poetry or prose that lifts you and quickens the feeling of this Love, we encourage you to give yourself this gift on Mother’s Day and every day. Your nurturing heart can make all the difference to those close to you and even those “strangers” that you encounter in your daily life.
We are so grateful for you, for your Light and your Love and the Gift of You in this world. You, who are One with the Mother, One with the Heart of Love.
And we love you dearly,
Rev. Steve and Mary
