Dear Spiritual Family,
In our bi-weekly video message today, we offer encouragement to heed the words of Dale Carnegie – “Give the other person a fine reputation to live up to.” And from Alan Cohen, “How you see yourself determines who you will become, and how you see others determines who they will become in your presence.”
At first blush, this concept may seem a bit daunting, but the core of our spiritual teachings is that as we seek to see and call out the higher qualities in those in our circle of family and friends, customers and clients, students and in general, those in our care, then we will experience them in a more favorable light. And as we do so, we are lifted higher in consciousness as well.
From Lesson 181 of A Course in Miracles: “Remove your focus from your brother’s sins, and you experience the peace that comes from faith in sinlessness.” From another perspective, focusing on others as broken or “less than” is akin to having faith in the appearance of “sinfulness.”
There are, no doubt, plenty of opportunities for us to use the power of our indwelling Christ nature to call forth the same in those around us. Such a “heavenly” undertaking is fully supported by the Holy Spirit. And it is that Wholeness, that Holiness, in those we seek to support in this way, that is open to be seen in this Light.
And at times, if we miss the mark and veer off the path of Truth, we can gently forgive ourselves and return to the glorious work of beholding the highest in these dear ones that the Universe has placed in our path.
In the Daily Dose of Sanity for August 2 – the one that helped inspire this message, Alan Cohen closes with a question and an affirmation. The question: “Who might you help by shifting your vision of them from their deficits to their possibilities?” And the affirmation, “I create worthy, capable, and talented people around me by seeing them as whole and gifted.”
Happy Visioning. The world awaits.
We love you,
Rev. Steve and Mary
