Dear Spiritual Family,

Our friend and a great mentor in our spiritual life was Arnold M. Patent, attorney, author and teacher. As a spiritual aspirant in the 1970s and 1980s, he was led to A Course in Miracles. The basis of his teaching was that work. He read, digested and shared it back in clear, and sometimes humorous ways as “Universal Law.”

Indeed the teachings of virtually all spiritual illuminants demonstrate the universality of spiritual understanding. For example, Jesus’ teachings apply to all people at all times in all places – a very reassuring thought!

Arnold taught, “It’s better to be a ‘Little Leaguer’ in the game of Reality than a ‘Major Leaguer’ in the game of illusion. We can interpret that as it’s more healing to speak love, even if we fall short at times – to forgive ourselves and others, even if we feel it’s not our best effort each time we do, than to try and be neutral about such endeavors.

We are all called to be healers. We are all called to do what is ours to do in hastening the realization of Heaven on earth. We fulfill this “mission” each time we look past the disguises, distressing as they may be at times, and seek to know what lies beyond those “masks.”

The two Daily Word pieces that Mary shares in the video message are about “Caring” and “Divine Order.” Each reading elicits a call to healing. Part of the statement read from A Course in Miracles is: “God has given you a gift that you both have and are. When you do not use it, you forget that you have it.”

As beings who want to bring healing to ourselves and others, it is incumbent upon us to use our God-given gift. Later in the Text (Chapter 7, Part IV) we read, “Healing is a way of forgetting the sense of danger the ego (the illusion) has induced in you, by not recognizing its existence in your brother. This strengthens the Holy Spirit in both of you, because it is a refusal to acknowledge fear. Love needs only this invitation.”

When we claim and stand in this “gift,” we “grow in compassion and understanding,” and we “use our understanding to affirm love is greater than hate, peace is greater than chaos, and God is greater than everything.” (Daily Word)

Aligning with and committing to practicing these “Universal Laws,” we are actively playing the Real Game and our “Coaches” like the Holy Spirit, Jesus and Others are right with us, guiding us and cheering us on!

We love you,

Rev. Steve and Mary
