First Light
Early in the morning, before the sun rises – there is First Light. This early dawn brings us the promise of a new day. Our vision may not be vivid but with every passing moment, we begin to see, to feel, and to experience God’s Gift of a new beginning. Before the first song of the first bird—we too can express our joy! We can choose to give thanks for our life, for life beaming everywhere, and for another day to love and be loved! May God’s Light shine forever brightly within you today!
“What Should I Put on Today?”
We are always at choice, even though it sometimes feels otherwise. We’re speaking here of the choice to identify with the ego or with the Self. In New Thought, that Self is often referred to as the Christ. More than “who” we are, It is What we are.
“You can’t ride two horses with one behind” our friend and teacher, Arnold Patent taught. He was referring to “riding the horse” of ego or the one of What we are; living from right-mindedness.
Dr. David Hawkins offers this wisdom, “Like the sun, the inner Self is always shining, but because of negative clouds, we do not experience it. It is not necessary to program oneself with the truth; it is only necessary to remove that which is false.” We do this by letting go of the habits of negative thinking.
It seems especially true today that it requires constant vigilance to remain true to our Essence but the effort gives immediate results. It provides the peace and happiness that we were gifted by our Creator.
Let’s lovingly support one another in dismounting that “horse” that leads us to dismay and confusion and joyfully ride the “horse” of Spirit!
We love you dear friends,
Rev. Steve and Mary
Going Deeper
If you would like to take this message deeper, here are two questions you can work with. Use these in your own self-reflection or in discussion with others.
- Dr. Hawkins wrote: “At all times remain aware that the real you is not the ego.” Refuse to identify with it. What are some of the attributes of the “real” you?
- How can you support yourself in “riding the horse” that is on (spiritual) purpose and therefore peaceful and joyful?
We would love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
