Dear Spiritual Family,
In Part II, Section 4 of A Course in Miracles, Jesus is speaking of the use of the body in awakening consciousness. “And now the body serves a different aim for striving. What it seeks for now is chosen by the aim the mind has taken as replacement for the goal of self-deception. Truth can be its aim as well as lies. The senses will then seek instead for witnesses to what is true.”
This message of this last sentence touched me, Rev. Steve, very deeply. Immediately, I thought of you and the ways you have sought in your lives to be “witnesses for what is true.” In the video message, I speak of three amazing women, one of whom you know well, who bear witness to what is true in so many of their words, actions, and reactions to difficulties that arise.
A second inspiration was a song playing in my head as I sought guidance from the Holy Spirit for today’s lesson. It was the voice of Harry Belafonte from at least 65 years ago as he sang the old spiritual hymn, “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy. The Virgin Mary had a baby boy. The Virgin Mary had a baby boy and they gave him the name of Jesus. He come from the glory. He come from the Glorious Kingdom.”
As we all do! We all come from the Glory of God, clearly not with the same awareness as our Master Teacher, but no less holy, no less clothed in our Christ Essence, and no less loved by our Creator.
Perhaps with a clearer intention to be witnesses to what is true, we will strengthen our faith in the Reality of our own and our sister’s and brother’s Inner Glory, that we were all birthed in the Mind of God and are here to bear witness to God’s unending Love.
I chose to open the video with the lyrics from a song that many of us are familiar with:
“Surely the Presence of the Lord is in this place. I can feel His Mighty Power and His Grace. I can hear the Brush of Angel’s Wings. I see Glory on each Face. Surely the Presence of the Lord is in this Place.”
Will you take a moment now and feel in your body the truth of this song? As they have touched us and so many others, they can open our hearts again to the fullness of God’s Presence within each of us. For indeed, we come from the Glory. We come from the Glorious Kingdom! And so it is. Amen.
We love you so,
Rev. Steve and Mary
